Evocations

£3.41

This slim volume contains eleven new stories, in which once again we are confronted with some ghostly presences as well as finding the law of karma at work. This collection concludes with The Prisoner, a very short story reprinted here from my first collection, Strange Tales in Fiction and Fact, which proved to be especially popular with many readers.

Description

The characters and situations evoked in this volume range from very dark places to glimpses of paradise. The law of karma is also present in some stories, an aspect I hadn’t previously considered. Ideas have a way of coming out of nowhere, often at the most unlikely moments and situations. I then find they can often be turned into very short stories, which have as much impact as the longer ones. A single page can be enough to convey the required effect. I don’t think there should be a set length for a short story. I tend to eschew unnecessary padding because I believe any story should simply be as long as it takes to tell.
